Work On Second Phase Of Al Sharqiyah Expressway Project Begins

Muscat: With an expenditure exceeding OMR 68 million, the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology has commenced the execution of activities aimed at finalizing the second phase of the Al Sharqiyah Expressway project.

This phase commences in the wilayats of Al Kamil and Al Wafi, extending to the Wilayat of Sur, and is overseen by the "Tasnim Projects Limited" company, which is responsible for connecting the wilayats from the governorates of North and South Al Sharqiyah.

The total cost of this project surpasses OMR 68 million. The remaining works are divided into several stages, including:

- Enhancement of the existing road infrastructure to convert it into a dual carriageway with three lanes, extending from the Wilayat of Al Kamil to the Wilayat of Sur, a distance of approximately 52 kilometers.
- Improvement of the road's efficiency from the Bilad Sur roundabout to the Sur Plaza Hotel, transforming it into a dual track comprising two lanes that are approximately 3 km long.

Furthermore, the project encompasses the construction of overhead intersections, bridges over valleys and arched overhead bridges, as well as the development of tunnels for both vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Additionally, the project will see the completion of lighting infrastructure, with the installation of traffic lights throughout the state of Sur.
