His Highness Sayyid Hamoud bin Kais Al Said attended the closing ceremony, recognizing the commitment and hard work of all participants alongside officials from the Arab Golf Federation and OGA.
The UAE excelled in the women's categories, highlighted by exceptional performances from Anca Mateiu, who won the ladies U-16 title, and Lara Al Chaib, the overall ladies champion. Meanwhile, Qatar took home the gold in the U16 boys’ team event.
Ahmed Al Jhdhamy, General Secretary of the OGA, underscored the significance of grassroots development. “Our achievements today stem from years of foundational efforts. The outcomes of this championship demonstrate that Oman is prepared to compete at the highest levels within the Gulf.”
With the OGA's ongoing commitment to youth development, these achievements herald a promising future for Omani golf. As Oman’s emerging talents aim for new challenges, they are set to make a lasting impact on the global golfing arena.
Prior to Bosch's performance, West Indies' promising talent Shamar Joseph took the wicket of Steven Smith with an impressive delivery on his very first ball at the Adelaide Oval in January. In February, South Africa's Tshepo Moreki also made an impact by dismissing New Zealand's Devon Conway at Mount Maunganui.
Bosch later added to his tally by removing Pakistan's vice-captain, Saud Shakeel. Shakeel appeared determined to score quickly from the moment he entered the field.
However, his eagerness for rapid runs ultimately led to his dismissal. He moved across his stumps in search of the ideal angle for his shot but found himself with limited space. The ball rose after bouncing, leaving Shakeel in a tight spot. It then deflected off his glove and into the hands of wicketkeeper Kyle Verreynne.
