New Delhi: Shannon Gabriel, a renowned West Indies fast bowler, has announced his retirement from international cricket on Wednesday.
Gabriel has represented his country in 59 Test matches, 25 One Day Internationals, and two Twenty20 Internationals, amassing 202 wickets for his nation.
On Wednesday, Gabriel shared the news of his retirement on his official Instagram account. In his announcement, he expressed his commitment to the West Indies cricket team during his tenure.
"Over the past 12 years, I have dedicated myself to playing international cricket for the West Indies. The opportunity to play this beloved game at the highest level has brought me immense joy, yet as the saying goes, all good things must come to an end. Today, I am announcing my retirement from International cricket," Gabriel wrote on Instagram.
"First and foremost, I wish to express my gratitude to God for the numerous blessings and the opportunities my family and I have received throughout my career. Secondly, I extend my heartfelt thanks to the administrators, coaches, and staff members of Cricket West Indies for their unwavering support and hard work over the years. Lastly, I am deeply appreciative of my teammates and those who have stood by me, making my journey to the top truly memorable," he concluded.
The Caribbean Cricket team has also shared their future plans, indicating that Gabriel will continue to represent Trinidad and Tobago in domestic cricket and potentially in international leagues.
