West Indies Pacer Jayden Seales Scripts History With Four-wicket Haul Against Bangladesh In 2nd Test

West Indies pacer Jayden Seales achieved an impressive milestone with his four-wicket haul on Day 2 of the second Test against Bangladesh at Sabina Park in Kingston on Monday.

Seales etched his name in the record books by delivering the most economical spell in men's Test cricket since 1978. He accomplished this feat during the match against Bangladesh.

The 23-year-old bowler claimed four wickets while conceding only five runs in his 16-over spell, resulting in an extraordinary economy rate of 0.30, the best recorded in Test cricket in over four decades.

Previously, in 2015, Indian pacer Umesh Yadav held the record with figures of 3/9 and an economy rate of 0.42.

In the match, Bangladesh won the toss and chose to bat first against the West Indies. Shadman Islam (64 runs off 137 balls, including 5 fours and 1 six) and captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz (36 runs off 75 balls, with 2 fours) were the standout performers for the visitors, helping Bangladesh reach a total of 164 in their first innings. Shahadat Hossain Dipu contributed with 22 runs off 89 balls, adding valuable runs alongside the top scorers.

The rest of the Bangladesh batting lineup struggled against the West Indies bowling attack.

Leading the charge for the Caribbean bowlers, Jayden Seales took four wickets while conceding just five runs. Shamar Joseph also had a notable performance, claiming three wickets, while Kemar Roach and Alzarri Joseph contributed with two and one wicket, respectively.

Kraigg Brathwaite and Mikyle Louis began the innings for the Caribbean team, but their partnership was limited to just 25 runs. Nahid Rana achieved the first breakthrough by dismissing Louis.

At the conclusion of the second day, the West Indies stood at 70 for 1, with Kraigg Brathwaite and Keacy Carty not out on scores of 33 off 115 balls and 19 off 60 balls, respectively.
