Uzbek President Receives Oman's Minister Of Commerce

In Tashkent today, Dr. Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, welcomed Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef, the Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion.

Al Yousef delivered to the Uzbek President the greetings and warm wishes of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik. He emphasized the strength of fraternal ties between the countries of Oman and Uzbekistan.

Al Yousef also congratulated the Uzbek President on the Uzbekistan national football team's unprecedented sporting achievement of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup for the first time. He termed this accomplishment as a source of pride for both Uzbekistan and the entire Central Asian area.

The minister noted that the Uzbek government's decision to provide Omani nationals a 30-day visa exemption is a step toward encouraging tourism and improving cultural and economic connections between the two countries.

He stated that Oman Air plans to conduct nonstop flights to Tashkent in order to strengthen direct contacts between the two nations in the near future.

At the end of the meeting, Al Yousef reaffirmed the Sultanate of Oman's strong commitment to improving bilateral relations and fostering collaboration between Oman and Uzbekistan on the basis of mutual respect, common prosperity, and a common future vision.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 5th Omani-Uzbek Joint Committee for Trade and Economic Cooperation, roundtable discussions with the Uzbek side, and the 4th Tashkent International Investment Forum. The trip is intended to strengthen bilateral collaboration and investigate possible joint investments in important industries.

Assayida Wafa Jabr Al Busaidi, the Sultanate of Oman's ambassador to the Republic of Uzbekistan, and other officials from both countries attended the conference.
