Today, Every Household Has A Dancer: ‘Dance King’ Prabhu Deva

Muscat: Yesterday, dance icon Prabhu Deva expressed the belief that every household now boasts a dancer, observing that the aspiring young talents emerging everywhere are not only “exceptional dancers” but also “impossible to emulate. ”

He pointed out that this phenomenon extends beyond India, finding resonance worldwide.

His accolades carry significant weight for the current generation of young dancers, particularly those who will share the stage with him at the event tonight.

Live performance today

Deva, in Oman for his debut live appearance at the ‘Bash’ this evening, began the press conference at Chars Sports, W Muscat, with a blend of humor, charm, and humility, captivating those in attendance.

Organized by Black & White Oman in partnership with JMR Events and Mediasenze, the press gathering also welcomed notable figures, including Geert Chatrou, a renowned Dutch whistler; Lama Nasser, who oversees marketing and CRM at Nissan; Staris Latkas, general manager of W Muscat; and Jose Mikle Robin, chairman of JMR Group Global, along with show director Harikumar from Shaa Entertainments.

Inspiring others to dance

Comfortable in the company of journalists, Deva responded to every question posed and shared that he is currently immersed in acting, choreography, and performance within Tamil cinema. He mentioned that he is not plotting future projects and prefers to “go with the flow. ” When asked about his various roles, he expressed a preference for choreography, as it allows him to make “others dance. ”

A memorable encounter with MJ

The Indian dance sensation, who celebrated his 52nd birthday on April 3, reflected on a cherished brief encounter with pop legend Michael Jackson in 1996, describing it as a profound “fanboy moment. ” Deva recounted with a grin that although Jackson spoke to him, he was so overwhelmed that he couldn’t comprehend the words. Inspired by Jackson, Deva proudly embraces the title of the ‘Indian Michael Jackson. ’

Commitment to fitness

On a more serious note, Deva highlighted the significance of being fit, not only for dance but also for life in general. He emphasized that one cannot truly dance without being in peak condition. “And there are absolutely no shortcuts!” he humorously noted.

Born of a legend

Deva’s roots trace back to the esteemed choreographer Mugur Sundar master, and it was his performances in films such as Gentleman and Kaadhalan that showcased his extraordinary talent to the world, after which audiences everywhere began to embrace his unique style.

A whistling homage

In the meantime, Geert Chatrou paid homage to the dance legend by presenting a brief, captivating display of his whistling talents in front of Deva and the assembled media.
Geert, who mentioned his experience watching videos of Deva's performances, humbly stated, “While dancing is not something I can do, I wish I had the ability to whistle as beautifully as you dance!”

Like a musical instrument

Deva, captivated by the whistling of the talented champion, remarked, “With my eyes closed, it truly felt as though a flute was being played!”

Nissan’s unexpected reveal

Various attendees at the conference shared their thoughts as well. In her short address, Lama Nasser indicated that Nissan had a surprise planned for the ‘Bash’ today, presenting a fantastic chance to collaborate with the event for the unveiling of their “special product. ” She expressed their enthusiasm for being a part of the occasion.

Thrilled to participate in the event

Staris Latkas, the general manager of W Muscat, also conveyed his eagerness to be involved in the event, adding that he was truly “very excited” to be around the living dance icon.
