Tender Announced For Integrated Economic Zone's Administrative And Commercial Complex In Al Dhahirah

Muscat: The Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (Opaz) has formally opened a tender for the construction of an administrative and commercial complex in Al Dhahirah Integrated Economic Zone, the fourth package of this significant development project.

The authority has invited qualified Omani-Saudi consortiums to participate via the Esnad electronic tendering platform, with 26 June as the deadline for acquiring tender papers. A site visit is planned on June 30th, and bid submissions are due by August 11th.

The broad plan includes the construction of various vital facilities, such as a central square for the economic zone, a business center, administrative buildings, a commercial complex, a hotel, and a health center. The scope of work includes civil construction, electrical, and mechanical works, steel structure installation for buildings, and extensive external works such as internal road networks, sewage systems, water and irrigation infrastructure, and complete landscaping.

The complex will be built on around 50,000 square metres of land and will initially include 17,000 square metres of constructed area, with the possibility of increasing up to 38,000 square metres.

Eng. Ibrahim Yousuf Al Zadjali, Project Director for Al Dhahirah Economic Zone Development, verified that the design includes smart city concepts in all amenities and meets the requirements for obtaining LEED green building certification, which the winning consortium will implement.

Situated in Al Dhahirah Governorate, only 20 kilometers from the Empty Quarter border crossing between Oman and Saudi Arabia, the unified economic zone is a major cross-border growth project. The present phase entails developing 6.5 square kilometers of the zone's total 388 square kilometer region.
