Ibri: The Al Dhahira Tech Innovation Hackathon 2025 officially began on Tuesday at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences in Ibri, with 200 participants chosen from 500 registrations and organized into 40 groups. The event was conducted under the patronage of Sheikh Muslim Ahmed Al Maashani, the Wali of Dank.

Mohammed Ahmed Al Hadidi, CEO of Nahj Digital, said in a statement that the hackathon, which is organised by the Al Dhahira Governor's Office and implemented by Nahj Digital, serves as a practical means to convert national strategies into actionable projects.

It is a strategic platform designed to promote innovation and use technology to serve society by empowering Omani youth and encouraging them to create novel technical solutions to existing social challenges, ensuring resilience and sustainability in the face of future obstacles, he said.

He also noted that participants will compete to provide practical solutions to national challenges in important themes such as smart government services, agriculture and water, community health, digital education, and transport and logistics.

Al Hadidi emphasised that this significant participation demonstrates Omani youth's eagerness and resolve to help in the national digital transformation journey.

He emphasized that Nahj Digital is focused on turning such activities into practical implementation tools to assist government agencies' digital transformation goals by encouraging open innovation and encouraging the development of sustainable technical solutions.

This strategy, he said, improves the preparedness of national talent and promotes a culture of digital entrepreneurship.

The first day included an overview of the challenge themes, the official kickoff of the hackathon, and interactive elements like as insightful dialogues and workshops.

On the second day, attendees will continue to create innovative technical solutions in a supportive and supervised setting before presenting and submitting their projects to the judging committee.

The Al Dhahira Tech Innovation Hackathon 2025 will conclude on Thursday with two visual presentations showcasing the event's outcomes and project results, as well as the signing of numerous agreements to support startups and strengthen the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem in Al Dhahira Governorate.

It is important to note that the participating teams will go through three preliminary phases, beginning with registration and ending with administrative and technical evaluations, culminating in the selection of three qualifying teams for the final round.
