Muscat: The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Youth has organized a symposium entitled "Investment Opportunities in the Omani Encyclopaedia for Youth."
This two-day event, which commenced on Monday, is dedicated to emphasizing the significance of the encyclopaedia in fostering national and cultural values among Omani children, thereby shaping their identity. It aims to identify the most viable opportunities for investment in the encyclopaedia, encompassing cognitive, technical, and economic aspects.
The symposium commenced with an opening ceremony, presided over by Mohammed Said Al Balushi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information. The event was graced by the presence of Sayyid Said Sultan Al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Youth for Culture.
Throughout the symposium, a paper titled "The Role of Communication Means in Boosting Awareness about Local Culture, National Values, and Knowledge Treasures in the Omani Encyclopaedia for Youth" was discussed.
Additionally, an exhibition dedicated to the Omani Encyclopaedia for Youth was inaugurated during the symposium. This exhibition showcased various processes involved in selecting text titles, summarizing and paraphrasing them, providing textual data, and the stages of linguistic review, design, and final drafts. It also highlighted strategies for transforming texts into images, maps, and graphs to engage the intended audience.
