The first meeting, chaired by Dr. Said Mohammed Al Saqri, Minister of Economy and Committee Chairman, reviewed planned initiatives for the Office's 2026-2027 work program. Key discussion topics included forthcoming foresight studies, national capacity-building initiatives to create futurescoping techniques, and the creation of reference resources to standardise foresight operations across government agencies.

The committee approved numerous future-thinking programs that were critical to the Office's mission, including foresight workshops, public awareness efforts on worldwide trends, and cooperation with important organizations to find investment prospects in future-oriented industries.

The establishment of the National Foresight Office is a response to rapid global change, providing a specialized policy unit to monitor trends and create adaptable development plans. Among its primary responsibilities are producing national and sector-specific future scenarios and offering strategic options for improving Oman's sustainable development framework.
