Australia captain Pat Cummins addressed the rumors of discord within the team on Thursday, asserting that there is a strong sense of unity among the players.
Speculation about a rift in the Australian camp arose when veteran bowler Josh Hazlewood remarked on Day 3 of the Perth Test, "You probably have to ask one of the batters that question. I'm sort of relaxing and trying to get a bit of physio and a bit of treatment, and I'm probably looking mostly towards the next Test and what plans we can do against these batters."
During the pre-match press conference, Cummins emphasized that the team is in good spirits and suggested that some commentators have misinterpreted the situation. He stated that the team does not pay much attention to such rumors.
"Yeah, look, the team's great. Some of the commentators got that 100 percent wrong. So, the team's great, we have prepared like we always do, and we support each other. There's a fantastic atmosphere within the team. So yeah, we don't make too much of it," Cummins remarked.
In response to Hazlewood's comments, former Australian player Adam Gilchrist shared his perspective during Fox Sports coverage, saying, "That to me suggests there is potentially a divided change room. I don't know if there is. I might be reading too much into that."
In the opening Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, India made a remarkable comeback from a series whitewash against New Zealand at home, defeating Australia by 295 runs in Perth, despite being bowled out for just 150 runs in their first innings.
The day-night Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Adelaide is set to commence on December 6.
On Thursday, Australia announced its playing eleven for the Adelaide Test, including pacer Scott Boland, who will take the place of the injured Josh Hazlewood at the Adelaide Oval.
