Muscat: The second edition of the "Bahla Fort Winter" Festival has commenced in the Wilayat of Bahla, located in the Al Dakhiliyah Governorate. This event aims to enhance domestic tourism and promote Omani culture among attendees.
The festival is under the patronage of His Excellency Salim bin Mohammed Al Mahrouqi, the Minister of Heritage and Tourism.
Engineer Ali bin Ahmed Al Shaqsi, General Manager of Al Marasem Tourism and Investment Company, which manages Bahla Fort, stated that the "Bahla Fort Winter" Festival is one of the key annual events in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, serving as a significant occasion to honor the region's cultural and tourism heritage.
He emphasized that the festival aims to showcase the tourist and historical sites of the Wilayat, particularly Bahla Fort, recognized as the first UNESCO World Heritage site in Oman.
Al Shaqsi noted that the festival's vision for its second edition is to promote the culture of Omani heritage through Bahla Fort, an essential historical landmark. He highlighted that the festival features a variety of recreational, educational, and cultural activities, with the open fort theatre serving as a venue for heritage displays, theatrical performances, and cultural competitions suitable for all age groups.
