Sayyid Badr Receives Officials Tasked With Combating Human Trafficking

The 5th session of the Government Forum to Combat Human Trafficking in the Middle East (2024) was hosted by the Sultanate of Oman on Wednesday. Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, welcomed heads of committees, representatives of GCC states, Jordan, Egypt, the GCC Secretariat General, and representatives of regional and international organizations participating in the forum.

During the meeting, Sayyid Badr emphasized the important role of GCC-Arab committees in combating human trafficking. He highlighted their efforts in raising public awareness, enacting national laws, exchanging expertise, and joining forces to address the issue effectively.

Sayyid Badr stressed the importance of enhancing coordination among these committees and implementing the findings of their studies. He also mentioned the full support of the Omani government for the National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking.

The forum discussed key topics aimed at improving the performance of the committees and meeting the expectations of the region's leaders and people. Participants expressed their gratitude to Oman for hosting the 2024 session, acknowledging the positive outcomes achieved. They also appreciated Oman's cooperation and continuous support for the joint GCC-Arab efforts in combating human trafficking, which is recognized as a successful model at regional and global levels.
