Sayyid Badr And UK Counterpart Hold Talks

Muscat: On Monday, Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi, the Foreign Minister, was engaged in a telephone conversation with David Lammy, the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom (UK).

During their discussion, the two ministers delved into the historical and strategic ties between their nations, emphasizing their mutual interest in furthering economic development, particularly in the energy sector, including renewable energy sources, alongside enhancing security and defense cooperation.

The conversation also addressed regional developments, highlighting the necessity to bolster regional and international efforts aimed at halting military escalation and mitigating the worsening humanitarian conditions.

Furthermore, the ministers expressed their concerns regarding the escalating civilian casualties in Lebanon and the Palestinian territories, with a particular focus on the Gaza Strip, as well as the growing threats to regional stability.

They stressed the critical need for collective action within the international community's purview to realize and establish a comprehensive and equitable political resolution to the Palestinian issue, which is essential for ensuring security and stability in the region.

Additionally, the ministers emphasized the urgency of establishing safe and efficient humanitarian corridors for the delivery of relief supplies to the Gaza Strip, reinstating support for the Palestinian National Authority, and recommitting to full international backing for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
