Rohit Sharma Adds Massive Feat To Resume, Becomes First Captain To Reach Finals Of All ICC Tournaments

Dubai: Rohit Sharma has made history by becoming the first captain in cricket to lead his team to the finals of every ICC tournament.

India's significant victory over Australia in the Champions Trophy semi-final on Tuesday marked a milestone, as it made India the first team to reach the final of the Champions Trophy five times, surpassing all other teams, which have not exceeded three appearances.

Since assuming full-time captaincy in February 2022, Rohit has led India to break numerous records. In just three years, he has guided the team to the finals of every ICC tournament, a remarkable achievement for any skipper.

Often overlooked for his strategic acumen, Rohit's unparalleled record has solidified his status as one of the greatest captains in cricket history.

Under his leadership, India reached the World Test Championship final in 2023 but faced a 209-run defeat. That same year, India entered the ODI World Cup 2023 final undefeated, only to see their hopes dashed by Australia, who claimed a 6-wicket victory in Ahmedabad, securing their sixth ODI World Cup title.

Despite this disappointment, the experienced opener quickly regrouped and led a record-breaking T20 World Cup 2024 campaign. He was instrumental in guiding India to Barbados, where they clinched the title for the first time since 2007, achieving this remarkable feat without a single loss throughout the tournament.

Rohit Sharma had previously been unable to secure the Champions Trophy, but on Tuesday, he made history in Dubai by guiding the Men in Blue to the final of this prestigious tournament.

Embracing a fearless strategy, India relished the opportunity for revenge by sending Australia packing. Chasing a target of 265 runs, Virat Kohli delivered a masterclass in batting that left the Australian team astonished.

Kohli orchestrated a brilliant innings, scoring 84 runs off 98 balls, while Shreyas Iyer contributed significantly with a solid 45 runs off 62 balls.

With this remarkable chase, India set a new record for the highest successful run chase against Australia in an ICC event, surpassing the previous record of 261 runs achieved during the 2011 World Cup quarter-final.
