Pact Worth Over OMR9mn Inked For Al Mughsayl Road Project

Muscat: On Wednesday, the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology announced the signing of a contract for the construction of the Al Mughsayl Road and Bridge project, with an estimated cost surpassing OMR 9 million.

The contract was sealed by His Excellency Engineer Said bin Hamoud Al Maawali, the Minister of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, alongside Engineer Syed Azher from AZ Engineers, who represented the company, amidst the presence of the Ministry’s Undersecretary for Transport.

The scope of the project encompasses the construction of a concrete bridge spanning 630 meters in length, supported by 20 piers and two side abutments, each measuring 13 meters in height.

The bridge is designed to feature six decorative arches, with the two largest arches reaching heights of 45.9 meters and the remainder of the arches at 35.9 meters.

Furthermore, the bridge will incorporate parking facilities on both sides and a pedestrian walkway, equipped with lighting, varying in width from 2 to 7 meters.

The project also includes the development of an at-grade crossing to improve access to other tourist destinations.

This initiative is expected to significantly improve traffic flow from Salalah to the western districts of Dhofar Governorate (Rakhyout and Dhalkut) and is of considerable importance as an international route connecting to the border crossing with the Republic of Yemen.

Moreover, the bridge site is of tourist interest due to its close proximity to Marneef Cave, Mughsayl Fountains, and the Mughsayl beachfront.a
