Over 650 Expats Arrested For Violations In North Al Batinah

Muscat: In October 2024, the Ministry of Labour (Mol) successfully apprehended over 650 individuals engaging in illegal activities as expatriates within the North Al Batinah Governorate.

Represented by the Labour Directorate in North Al Batinah Governorate, alongside the Joint Inspection Team and the Inspection Unit of the Security and Safety Services, the Ministry conducted comprehensive inspection campaigns throughout the North Al Batinah Governorate. These efforts led to the arrest of 658 individuals, including:

- 425 individuals who had abandoned their employment and were residing without valid residency permits.
- 68 individuals employed by non-employers.
- 106 individuals employed in professions that required Omani work permits.
- 59 individuals engaged in self-employment without proper authorization.
- 49 instances of labor violations were subsequently referred to the Public Prosecution for further legal action.
