Muscat: The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT) has announced the allocation of 1,728 positions across various specializations and information and communications technology sectors until the third quarter of 2024.
These job opportunities encompass 33 professions, which are evenly distributed among leadership roles, specialized positions, and technical roles. Omani nationals secured 80 percent of these positions, with the remaining 20 percent being filled by expatriates.
The Ministry's concerted efforts towards Omanization of jobs and the enhancement of Omani employment within the communications and information technology sector have yielded positive results. The workforce composition in Oman has seen a notable shift, with the percentage of Omani workers increasing from 49.71 percent in 2023 to 62.02 percent in 2024, accompanied by a significant decline in the expatriate workforce to 37.98 percent.
It is also worth mentioning that since the inception of the National Initiative to Qualify National Competencies (Makin), the Ministry has successfully employed approximately 226 Omani nationals.
