Our Players Gave Everything, Jaber Hails Oman’s Grit In Gulf Cup Semis

Muscat: Oman’s coach Rasheed Jaber praised his team's tenacity and spirit following their exhilarating 2-1 semi-final win against Saudi Arabia in the 26th Arabian Gulf Cup held in Kuwait on Tuesday. Oman is set to face Bahrain in the final on Saturday, January 4, after Bahrain secured a 1-0 victory over the host nation, Kuwait, in the other semi-final.

Oman aims to capture their third title, having reached the final for the second consecutive time, while Bahrain seeks their second championship.

In his post-match comments, Jaber highlighted his team's capacity to navigate challenges, particularly after playing nearly an hour with only ten players due to a red card issued in the first half.

“The match became significantly more challenging after the red card in the 34th minute,” Jaber acknowledged.

“The players maintained their focus and worked diligently to secure our position. This dedication and effort are what led us to the final.”

Jaber also commended the Saudi team, describing them as “a formidable opponent with a rich legacy and outstanding players,” recognizing the challenge his team faced after conceding a late goal in the second half.

He attributed the turnaround to Oman’s adjustments made during halftime and the players' determination.

“At halftime, I reassured them that we could still win despite the setback. We discussed tactical changes, and the players executed them flawlessly,” Jaber stated.

He also commented on the perceptions surrounding Oman’s game management, stating, “Our players do not engage in time-wasting. They compete with passion and integrity to represent our nation.”

With their focus now directed towards Saturday’s final against Bahrain, Jaber conveyed his confidence in the team’s readiness to meet the challenge.

“We always play for our supporters. This team has proven its ability to fight until the final whistle. We are prepared to give our all once again in the final.”

For Jaber, the emphasis is clear: “It’s about having faith in one another and playing as a cohesive unit. This journey has been defined by belief, collaboration, and the spirit of Oman.”
