On Behalf Of HM The Sultan, Sayyid Fahd Heads Oman’s Delegation At 45th GCC Summit

Kuwait: Representing His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, HH Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers, led the Sultanate of Oman’s delegation at the 45th GCC Summit, which took place on Sunday at Bayan Palace in the State of Kuwait.

In his role as Chairman of the current GCC summit, Sheikh Mishal Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, Emir of the State of Kuwait, delivered a speech that emphasized the significance of the Gulf Cooperation Council as a symbol of unity and a testament to the strength of collaboration, cohesion, and integration among member states. He stated:

“The Gulf Cooperation Council represents a remarkable embodiment of unity and a powerful demonstration of our collective strength. It reflects our deep commitment to enhancing joint GCC efforts to address the challenges posed by the rapid developments in regional and international contexts, while also striving to elevate cooperation in ways that fulfill the aspirations of our peoples."

Al Sabah noted that despite the passage of over forty years since the GCC's inception, the organization remains united, resolute in its positions, and determined in its pursuit of establishing the foundations of international security and peace.

He also highlighted the GCC’s steadfast historical support for the Palestinian people in their legitimate struggle to end the Israeli occupation of their land, secure their political rights, and establish an independent state within the 1967 borders, with Al Quds A'Sharqiyah (East Jerusalem) as its capital, in line with international laws and resolutions.

In the same session, HH Sayyid Fahd addressed the attendees, stating: "In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful..."

Your Highness Sheikh Mishal Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, Emir of the State of Kuwait, esteemed Majesties and Highnesses, distinguished leaders of the GCC States. May peace, mercy, and blessings from the Almighty be upon you! It is with great honor that I convey the greetings and best wishes of His Majesty the Sultan for the success of this summit.

GCC Secretary General Jassim Mohammed Al Badiwi emphasized the need for the international community to take urgent action to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, who are enduring a continuous conflict instigated by Israeli occupation forces. He noted that the repercussions of this conflict have also affected Lebanon, resulting in a concerning military escalation.

The GCC Summit addressed several strategic topics, including regional security matters, the integration of GCC economies, and the development of mechanisms to enhance the Gulf common market, alongside cooperation in technology and digital transformation.

Additionally, the summit covered initiatives related to environmental and energy collaboration among member states, as well as political matters such as the situation regarding Palestine, recent developments in Lebanon, the ongoing crisis in Yemen, unresolved issues in Iraq, and the relationships with both regional and international powers.
