Ominvest And Outward-Bound Oman To Nurture The Leadership Potential Of Young Omanis

Muscat: The Oman International Development and Investment Company SAOG (Ominvest), in collaboration with Outward Bound Oman, has introduced the "Ominvest Young Shapers" Programme. This initiative is set to engage a diverse group of 100 young individuals, encompassing students from various educational institutions, job seekers, and budding entrepreneurs. The programme is a testament to Ominvest's dedication to nurturing national talent and cultivating leadership qualities and self-responsibility among the youth of Oman.

Abdulaziz Mohammed Al Balushi, the Group CEO of Ominvest, highlighted that a primary goal of the Group is to empower Omani youth, aiming to develop their independence and prepare them for leadership roles in the future. This objective is in harmony with the vision of Oman Vision 2040, which underscores the importance of fostering economic leadership and the development of Omani talent.

He further emphasized, "We encourage the youth to fully engage with the training programme, leveraging the workshops and panel discussions led by industry experts."

The Ominvest Young Shapers programme, in collaboration with the Global Shaper Muscat Hub, is designed to cultivate a new generation of Omani leaders equipped to address global challenges with the requisite knowledge and essential soft skills. It also underscores the importance of their role in mitigating the adverse effects of these challenges.

The programme, scheduled to commence in August and extend over several months, includes discussion sessions aimed at enhancing the understanding of each individual's role as a global citizen. It further seeks to inspire young people to participate in existing volunteer initiatives within Oman, thereby increasing awareness of how civil society can contribute to addressing global challenges.

Furthermore, the programme will feature various discussion panels held in natural environments to enhance the young participants' skills in exploration and experiential learning. These sessions will focus on personal development, the acquisition of fundamental skills, raising awareness of global issues, and identifying potential solutions. Additionally, the programme will address a range of environmental and sustainability concerns, the sustainable use of natural resources, and social issues affecting the youth.

Richard Lewis, the Executive Director of Outward Bound Oman, commented, "Through our distinctive experiential learning courses in the natural environment, we have been able to effect positive changes in the lives of over 25,000 participants. Our programs are in alignment with the objectives of Oman's Vision 2040, and the Ominvest Young Shapers Programme is poised to increase awareness of global issues among the youth, thereby empowering them to contribute as future leaders in Oman."
