OmanSat To Establish And Operate Satellite System In Oman : TRA

Muscat: The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has revealed the issuance of Royal Decree No. (40/2025), which awards a first-class license to OmanSat Technologies Company for the creation and management of a satellite communications system. This development is expected to significantly enhance the telecommunications infrastructure in Oman.

According to the TRA, this decree will likely boost market competition, as OmanSat, the newly licensed entity, will take on the responsibility of developing and operating satellite communication systems to deliver fixed public telecommunications services across the Sultanate.

The authority elaborated that the license aims to support the provision of broadband internet services, enable satellite connectivity for communication stations, and expand the range of options available to users, especially in rural regions. This initiative aligns with the TRA's continuous efforts to promote investment in cutting-edge technologies and services, ensure the provision of accessible and secure infrastructure, and foster a regulatory environment that is adaptable to technological progress.
