Muscat: The aggregate electricity generation within the Sultanate of Oman, as of the conclusion of May 2024, has experienced a modest growth of 1.4% to 15,769.6 gigawatts per hour, in contrast to the 15,553 gigawatts per hour recorded during the same period in 2023, as per data disseminated by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
The three governorates of North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah, and Al Dhahirah collectively achieved a total electricity generation of 9437.4 gigawatts per hour.
In Muscat, the total electricity generation witnessed a significant increase of 46.9%, elevating it to 113.9 gigawatts per hour. Conversely, the electricity generation in the Al Dhofar Governorate saw a notable rise of 16.9%, culminating in a total of 2304.2 gigawatts per hour.
Furthermore, the aggregate electricity generation across the governorates of North Al Sharqiyah and South Al Sharqiyah experienced a modest increase of 5%, culminating in a total of 3679.9 gigawatts per hour. In contrast, the electricity generation in the Al Wusta Governorate witnessed a decline of 33.3%, reaching a total of 60.9 gigawatts per hour.
The Musandam Governorate, on the other hand, observed a modest increase in electricity production by 3.4%, reaching a total of 155.8 gigawatts per hour.
Statistical analysis reveals that the net electricity production of Oman as of the end of May 2024 has experienced a slight decrease of 0.9%, settling at 14926.9 gigawatts per hour.
Regarding water production, Oman's output by the conclusion of May 2024 stood at 205,753,300 cubic meters, a slight decrease from the 210,684,200 cubic meters recorded during the corresponding period in 2023.
