Baku: During their discussions at the sidelines of the second Azerbaijan-GCC Economic Forum, a group of Omani businessmen and their Azerbaijani counterparts articulated their keen interest and optimism regarding the potential for expanding cooperation across various economic, commercial, and investment sectors between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The Azerbaijan-GCC Economic Forum, hosted by the Federation of GCC Chambers in the capital of Azerbaijan, Baku, served as the backdrop for these deliberations.
The conversations revolved around exploring investment opportunities and the emerging sectors that could foster partnerships between the two nations. These sectors included renewable energy, transportation, logistics services, agriculture, and food industries, among others. Additionally, the discussions covered the business environment, regulatory procedures, incentives, and facilities available to investors, particularly within economic zones, free zones, industrial cities, and ports.
Faisal bin Abdullah Al Rawas, the Chairman of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), expressed the chamber's aspiration to facilitate knowledge sharing among Omani businessmen and their international counterparts. The aim is to familiarize them with the necessary information, procedures, laws, regulations, and support services offered by Omani companies interested in expanding into international markets, with a focus on Azerbaijan.
He also highlighted the current state of economic relations between Oman and Azerbaijan, noting that there is room for improvement to align with the aspirations of both nations. Furthermore, he mentioned the upcoming visit of a trade delegation from Azerbaijan to Oman, aimed at exploring the business environment, investment opportunities, and promising sectors within the Sultanate.
Rashid bin Amer Al Maslahi, the First Deputy to the Chairman of the OCCI, emphasized that these meetings provide a unique opportunity for the two nations to understand each other's promising opportunities. He looked forward to these opportunities contributing to the establishment of partnerships between the private sectors of both the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Azerbaijan.
