Oman Vision 2040 Implementation Follow-up Unit Issues Annual Report

Muscat: The Oman Vision 2040 Implementation Follow-up Unit has released its third annual report, which adopts a methodology that emphasizes the actual performance of government agencies and the efforts exerted across various economic and developmental sectors throughout the year 2023. This report is also dedicated to evaluating the contribution of these entities towards the realization of the objectives outlined in the Oman Vision 2040.

His Excellency, the Head of the Oman Vision 2040 Implementation Follow-up Unit, stated, "This annual report serves as a comprehensive monitoring and documentation of progress in the executive path of government agencies' work, thereby aligning them with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040."

The report meticulously examines the actual performance of government agencies and their endeavors towards achieving the goals set forth in Oman Vision 2040.

Key Accomplishments and Initiatives:

Economic Advancement: The Sultanate of Oman has seen an improvement in its rankings across various international indices, such as the Economic Freedom Index, Entrepreneurship Index, and Environmental Performance Index.

Education and Research: The government has conducted audits of higher education institutions, funded research projects, and inaugurated new museums.

Healthcare Enhancement: The government has invested in the infrastructure of healthcare facilities, established new factories for the production of medicines and medical supplies, and replaced existing hospitals and healthcare centers.

Welfare and Social Protection: Initiatives like "Maksab" and "Joud" have been introduced to support families and establish a detailed database of productive families.

Economic Leadership and Management: Efforts have been directed towards enhancing leadership and management capabilities with the aim of achieving sustainable economic growth.

Economic Diversification and Financial Sustainability: The government has successfully reduced public debt, achieved budget surpluses, and enhanced the efficiency of government spending.

Labor Market and Employment: To improve the efficiency of the labor market and promote Omanization, new labor laws and regulations have been implemented.

Private Sector, Investment, and International Cooperation: The government has worked to enhance the investment environment and offer incentives to small and medium enterprises.

Developing Sustainable Governorates and Cities: Comprehensive master plans have been developed for major cities, including Muscat, to ensure sustainable development.

Environment and Natural Resources: The establishment of new nature reserves, expansion of air quality monitoring stations, and growth in the recycling sector by factories are among the initiatives to protect the environment.

Governance of State Administrative Apparatus, Resources, and Projects: The issuance of a guide for managing government projects, strengthening the unified contracts system, and the study of new contracts are steps towards better governance.
