Oman Takes Part In Assembly Of The Asian Organization Of Supreme Audit Institutions

New Delhi, India: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the State Audit Institution (SAI), participated in the 16th Assembly of the Asian Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ASOSAI), which took place in New Delhi, the Republic of India. This assembly, scheduled from September 24 to 27, 2024, featured the participation of heads of member Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs).

The delegation from Oman, led by Sheikh Ghuson Hilal Al-Alawi, the Chairman of the State Audit Institution (SAI), was actively engaged in discussions and deliberations throughout the assembly. The agenda for the assembly included several critical topics, with a primary focus on the review of the Secretariat's activities for the fiscal years 2021 to 2023, the approval of the ASOSAI financial statements for the same period, and the review of the outcomes of the external audits of the ASOSAI financial statements for the fiscal years 2021 to 2023. Additionally, the assembly reviewed reports from various ASOSAI Working Groups, including those on Environmental Audit, Sustainable Development Goals, and Crisis Management Audit.

The assembly also addressed the review of the ASOSAI Strategic Plan and the report on ASOSAI Capacity Building Activities. The proceedings concluded with the approval of the ASOSAI budget for the fiscal years 2025 to 2027 and discussions on proposals for the establishment of new working groups, such as the ASOSAI Working Group on State Owned Enterprises, the ASOSAI Working Group on IT Audit and Data Analysis, and the ASOSAI Working Group on Regional and Municipal Audit. Furthermore, the assembly was responsible for selecting members for the ASOSAI Governing Board and Audit Committee for the period 2024 to 2027.

Sheikh Ghuson Hilal Al-Alawi, representing the Sultanate of Oman, played a pivotal role in leading the delegation's participation in the 9th ASOSAI symposium. During this symposium, the State Audit Institution (SAI) presented a paper on the role of Omani women in the development and utilization of modern technology, as well as the Government's efforts towards gender equality and women's empowerment in the digital environment.
