Abdulrahman al Mushaifri and Jameel al Yahmadi scored the decisive goals as Oman secured a 3-0 victory over Chinese Taipei in the penultimate match of Group D in the Preliminary Joint Qualification for the Fifa World Cup 2026 and AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027.
The win propelled the Red Warriors to 12 points in the group, bringing them closer to the next stage of the joint qualifiers and securing a place in the AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027. This victory marks Oman's third consecutive win under the guidance of head coach Jaroslav Silhavy, who assumed the role in February.
Abdulrahman found the back of the net twice in the 31st and 55th minutes, with Jameel adding a third goal in the 74th minute. Zaher al Aghbari came close to scoring early on, narrowly missing the target with a ground shot in the 11th minute following a free-kick by Harib al Saadi.
In the 18th minute, A Kouame delivered a precise pass to Chen Hao-wei, who aimed for the goal but hit the crossbar. Chinese Taipei continued to apply pressure on Oman in search of an early goal. Chen Hao-wei attempted to set up Chen Po-liang in the 20th minute, but the goalkeeper Ibrahim al Mukhaini made a crucial save. Esam al Subhi took a shot at Pan Wen-chieh's goal in the 31st minute, and Abdulrahman al Mushaifri redirected it into the net. Just before halftime, Esam al Subhi had a chance to extend Oman's lead, but Pan Wen-chieh denied him with a save. The first half concluded with Oman ahead 1-0.
In the second half, Coach Jaroslav Silhavy's team came out stronger, with Arshad al Alawi coming close to scoring in the 51st minute, but his attempt missed the target. Abdulrahman al Mushaifri added another goal for Oman in the 55th minute, entering the box and finding the back of the net successfully.
Chinese Taipei put in a tremendous effort to regain control of the game, creating numerous opportunities to score. However, Oman's solid defense and goalkeeper Ibrahim al Mukhaini successfully foiled all of their attempts. In the 75th minute, Jameel al Yahmadi took advantage of a defensive mistake and scored Oman's third goal, securing a victory and solidifying the national team's 12th point.
During the final ten minutes, Oman had additional opportunities to extend their lead. Amjad al Harthy's shot hit the crossbar, and Pan Wen-chieh saved Arshad al Alawi's attempt in the 84th minute. The match concluded with Oman emerging victorious with a 3-0 scoreline.
