Cairo: The Sultanate of Oman attended the Arab Permanent Committee on Human Rights' 56th meeting, which took place in Cairo, Egypt.
Oman's delegation was led by Saud Saleh Al Maawali, Deputy Head of the Oman Human Rights Commission (OHRC).
The meeting, which took place at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo, addressed agenda items relating to the implementation of the 55th session's proposals. Key themes included challenging Israeli crimes and discriminatory practices in the occupied Arab lands, the issue of Arab prisoners and detainees in Israeli prisons, and other concerns pertaining to Israeli violations.
The meeting also evaluated the working strategy of the Arab Charter on Human Rights Committee and agreed on the topic for the next Arab Human Rights Day in 2026, which is observed every year on March 16.
