Oman Participates In GCC-IMF Meeting

Doha: The Sultanate of Oman, under the representation of a unified delegation comprising members from the Central Bank of Oman and the Ministry of Finance, took part in the collaborative assembly of Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) States, alongside the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which took place today in Doha, Qatar.

The delegation from Oman was led by Sayyid Taimur bin Asa’ad Al Said, who serves as the Chairman of the Board of Governors at the Central Bank of Oman.

The primary focus of the assembly was on significant global economic and financial trends, alongside the economic landscape within GCC States, alongside the priorities of the International Monetary Fund, and strategies to foster greater collaboration between GCC States and the IMF.

During the assembly, the International Monetary Fund scrutinized a working paper entitled "Economic Challenges and Policies in GCC States in Light of Geopolitical Conditions". This document underscored the resilience of GCC economies to economic disturbances and the notable enhancement in the performance of the non-oil sector over the preceding year, alongside discussions on the efficacy of their monetary, fiscal, and structural policies.
