Muscat: Under the esteemed patronage of His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Nasser Al Zaabi, Secretary General of the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, in partnership with the National Survey Authority and Google, has inaugurated the initial phase of a Virtual Tour project.
This initiative is designed to deliver a distinctive virtual experience, enabling users around the globe to discover Oman's stunning landscapes, historical sites, and contemporary infrastructure. The project reflects the nation's dedication to digital innovation and its potential to enhance tourism and business growth.
The first phase emphasizes renowned locations, including Khor Rori, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Utilizing "Trekkers" devices, images have been captured over an extensive distance of approximately 36,000 kilometers.
The project is anticipated to expand in 2025, adding more sites and landmarks to provide a thorough virtual exploration of Oman's varied beauty. This initiative highlights Oman's status as a culturally and naturally rich tourist destination, accessible to audiences worldwide.
