Muscat: Oman has been recognised as largely compliant with international standards for transparency and tax information exchange. This favorable view underscores the significant advancements Oman has achieved in increasing the openness of its tax system.
The jurisdiction party's evaluation was founded on a thorough examination of the Sultanate of Oman's adherence to transparency standards and the exchange of tax information upon request, in accordance with the OECD Global Forum's criteria for transparency and tax information exchange.
The assessment procedure included a field visit to the Sultanate of Oman by an international team of evaluators in September 2024. The team consulted with experts from the Tax Authority and relevant government departments to evaluate Oman's transparency and create a report on the country's status.
This elevated position highlights Oman's continuing dedication to implementing transparency and governance principles, as well as building international trust in the country's tax system. Oman's dedication to global standards aids in the fight against tax evasion and supports collaborative foreign initiatives in financial and tax matters.
To enhance transparency and investment competitiveness, the Tax Authority continues to adopt the best overseas practices and implement globally recognized standards, knowing that harmonizing foreign tax procedures reduces investors' tax compliance costs.
