Tripoli: The Arab Planning Institute (API) Board of Trustees held its annual meeting in Tripoli, Libya, chaired by Dr. Said Mohammed Al Saqri, Minister of Economy.
The meeting focused on ways to implement the Institute's 2025-2030 strategy, which was approved at the API meeting in Kuwait in January 2025. The Kuwait meeting aimed to support efforts to get sustainable development in Arab nations.
Monday's meeting focused on strategies to kick off the second phase of the Government Spending Efficiency Index in Arab Countries development index. The goal of the index is to improve openness and efficiency in the management of public assets.
The conference was convened to discuss the institute's growth of training activities. The API organizes over 25 virtual training sessions each year on topics such as decentralization, local development policies, digital transformation, SME management, and sustainable and green growth (environment-based economic development).
On the sidelines of the meeting, Dr. Said bin Mohammed Al Saqri spoke with two Libyan ministers: Mohammed Al Zaidani, Minister of Planning, and Mohammed Al Huweij, Minister of Economy and Trade. The meeting highlighted the need of implementing the OmaniLibyan Joint Committee's provisions, as well as a private sector cooperation plan between Oman and Libya, with the goal of investing in Libya's rebuilding.
The two sides also explored strategies to improve economic ties and share knowledge in planning and sustainable development.
