Oman Bans Import Of Certain Cosmetic, Personal Care Products

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman has implemented a ban on the import of cosmetics and personal care products that contain the substance MethyI-N-Methylanthranilate or do not meet the specified percentages.

The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (MoCIIP) has issued a statement emphasizing the importance of ensuring the safety and quality of products in the local market. This ban aligns with the European system for cosmetics and personal care products (EC NO. 1223/2009), which serves as a reference for the Gulf Technical Regulation Cosmetics - Safety Requirements for Cosmetics and Personal Care Products (GO 2021/1943). Ministerial Resolution 199/2021 makes this ban legally binding.

Therefore, it is crucial to comply with these standards and refrain from importing any cosmetics or personal care products that contain the prohibited substance or fail to meet the specified percentages.

The Ministry remains committed to providing safe and reliable products to consumers in the local market.
