Tunis: Oman achieved advanced ranks at the Arab Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Championship in Tunisia, which included 89 teams from 11 Arab nations and more than 300 students.
The team of Al-Harith bin Malik School from A'Dakhiliyah Governorate finished second in the advanced sumo tournament, while the team of Sheikh Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Kindi School, also from A'Dakhiliyah, finished second in the novice sumo category.
In addition, the team from Muscat Governorate's Al Firdous Private School finished second in the innovation challenge.
Meanwhile, the Muscat-based Ahmed bin Al-Nu'man Al-Kaabi School team received the best strategy prize in the advanced sumo competition. In the beginning sumo tournament, Al Mahamid School from Muscat won two awards—best programming and best design—while Al Firdous Private School obtained the judges' prize in the ball challenge.
Oman entered the competition with eight teams, with the goal of encouraging innovation, cooperation, and young participation in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
The event included eight competitions: Line Tracking, Ball Collection, Sumo (robot wrestling), Innovation for Students and Projects, the Robotic Arm Challenge, and many children's events with real-world applications.
The tournament plays an important role in fostering robotics and AI awareness throughout Arab nations by encouraging students to interact with these disciplines early on and stay up with global technological breakthroughs.
