Athens: The Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) took part in the second Arab-Greek Maritime Conference, which was held in Athens by the Arab Greek Chamber of Commerce and Development.
The conference theme was "Cooperation between Sea Neighbours," which brought together representatives of chambers of commerce, business owners, and maritime and logistics professionals from Arab nations and Greece.
It aimed to emphasize the value of enhancing trade and maritime relations between sea-bordering nations, as well as stimulating economic and investment collaborations, particularly in light of swift changes in global supply chains and the rising role of ports and industrial zones in sustaining national economies.
Saif bin Nasser AlTaiwani, a Board of Directors member for the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Chairman of the Chamber's Al Dakhiliyah Governorate branch, stated that Oman, with its strategic geographic position and investment-friendly legislation, places a high priority on the ports and logistics industry.
He emphasized that the government is working to improve infrastructure and connect ports to economic and industrial zones in order to create an attractive environment for businesses and supply chains, thereby strengthening the Sultanate of Oman's position as a regional logistics hub.
He also noted that Omani ports like Sohar, Salalah, and Duqm are integrated industrial ecosystems that include manufacturing, logistics, and warehousing, creating numerous opportunity for investment and collaboration in the blue economy.
He emphasized that the Chamber is eager to implement projects that aid in the growth of trade, transportation, and investment in ports and free zones, urging business owners to visit the Sultanate of Oman and discover its stable business environment and promising prospects in the maritime and logistics industries.
On the sidelines of the conference, meetings were conducted with several business owners in the maritime transport and logistics sectors to talk about how to jointly invest in the maritime transport and supply chain sectors and explore prospects in the Omani market.
