Muscat: The Oman American Business Council (OABC, AmCham Oman) convened its Biennial General Meeting (BGM) on January 21st at the Hormuz Grand Hotel, marking notable achievements, launching new initiatives, and presenting its newly elected Board of Directors.
Since the previous BGM, OABC, which serves as the official affiliate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Oman, has successfully organized an impressive total of 109 events. In 2024, the organization has already welcomed 100 new members. These accomplishments highlight OABC’s pivotal role as a central hub for business, trade, and investment in Oman, enhancing engagement across various sectors and nurturing essential connections.
Rebecca Olson, CEO of OABC, stated: "This year’s BGM showcases OABC’s progress and the increasing influence of our community. Together, we are creating opportunities for businesses to flourish, establishing connections, and cultivating partnerships that benefit both Oman and the United States."
New Board of Directors
During the BGM, OABC announced the election of its new Board of Directors, who will guide the organization into its forthcoming phase. The newly elected members are:

The outgoing Board Members, including Matt Olson, Marla Valdez, Dr. Mohab Al Hinai, and Shayan Sumar, were recognized for their significant contributions and unwavering commitment.
Exciting Announcements and Initiatives
The BGM underscored OABC’s dedication to equipping businesses with innovative tools and opportunities. The organization unveiled three key trade programs—U.S. Import Easy, U.S. Export Compass, and Gateway Oman—aimed at streamlining trade operations and enhancing the advantages of the U.S.-Oman Free Trade Agreement (FTA).
Additionally, OABC revealed a new partnership with Qatar Airways, which will provide exclusive discounts for members and pave the way for further collaboration in 2025.
