Muscat: On Tuesday, the Municipal Council of Muscat Governorate convened to discuss the National Economic Diversification Programme, known as "Tanwee."
This discussion occurred during the council's inaugural meeting of 2025, presided over by Sayyid Saud Hilal Al Busaidi, the Governor of Muscat and Chairman of the Muscat Municipal Council. Ahmed Mohammed Al Humaidi, Chairman of Muscat Municipality, was also present.
Eng. Al Motassim Ali Al Yaqoubi, the Executive Director of the Programme, delivered a visual presentation highlighting the key sectors encompassed by the initiative, which include converting industries, agriculture, fisheries, tourism, mining, and transport and logistics. The presentation detailed the growth rates and contributions of each sector from 2020 to 2023.
Additionally, the Council ratified the minutes from its 10th meeting of 2024. The agenda included several recommendations, notably regarding the enhancement of Sultan Qaboos Port and a proposal to designate a location for a local products market in the "Ramla" area of the Wilayat of Qurayat.
