Muscat: The Oman Electricity Transmission Company (OETC) is set to commemorate the foundation stone laying for the project aimed at linking Masirah Island to the primary electricity transmission network on Thursday, February 6, 2025.
This initiative is part of OETC's ongoing commitment to improving the reliability, safety, and sustainability of the electricity transmission infrastructure across the Sultanate of Oman.
The event will be presided over by Eng. Salim Nasser Al Aufi, the Minister of Energy and Minerals.
Valued at OMR72 million, this pioneering project in the Sultanate of Oman will employ advanced technology to create a 132/33 kilovolt station, along with a series of overhead and underground transmission lines and marine cables that will span approximately 94 kilometers.
The project will establish a connection between the Masirah station and the Mahout station via a 400/132 kilovolt power line.
The transmission network operates at voltages of 132 kilovolts and higher, serving the majority of the governorates in the Sultanate of Oman from north to south. Additionally, OETC manages the interconnection lines linking Oman with the GCC interconnection network at a voltage of 220 kilovolts.
