Muscat Governorate Sees Significant Increase In Crime Cases

Muscat: The Public Prosecution report indicates that Muscat Governorate has the highest incidence of cases, totaling 20,852, followed by North Al Batinah Governorate with 7,500 cases and Dhofar Governorate with 4,457 cases.

A significant portion of the cases, amounting to 32,856, were reported by the Royal Oman Police. Additionally, 5,757 cases were submitted via the Public Prosecution's e-services portal, while 4,142 cases were referred by the Ministry of Labour.

In 2024, labour law violations emerged as the most prevalent offenses, with 12,407 cases recorded. This was followed by cheque-related crimes (9,699), violations of foreign residency laws (9,154), fraud cases (5,343), and incidents of theft and extortion.
