The 2024 Summer Sports Programme was recently announced by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth at the Grand Hormuz Hotel in Muscat. The event was attended by Mohammed bin Ahmed al Ameri, Director-General of Sports Activities at the Ministry, members of the main committee for the Summer Sports Programme, and several ministry officials and the programme-supporting companies.
Since its inception in 2006, the Summer Sports Programme has aimed to provide beneficial sports activities during the summer season. These activities not only enhance participants' skills but also help build their character, enabling them to actively contribute to community development. This year's programme will consist of 244 activities, including 115 training centres, 77 open sports days, 33 sports caravans, and 19 initiatives and volunteer workshops. These activities will be held in various sports complexes across Oman, as well as in sports clubs, Omani women's associations, and local teams.
The 2024 Summer Sports Programme is designed to introduce fresh and creative concepts to engage individuals during their summer break. Samira al Shukaili, Director of the Sports Activity Department at the Ministry and Chair of the Main Committee for the 2024 Summer Sports Programme, emphasized that the initiative aims to make a significant social impact by combatting modern diseases, advocating for a positive lifestyle, enhancing mental and social well-being, and shaping behavior through its commitment to quality and excellence in promoting sports for all.
Al Shukaili further stated that the programme's objective is to cultivate a generation well-versed in sports and cognizant of the significance of sports in fostering healthy and social principles.
