Adelaide: In anticipation of the second Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia in Adelaide, Indian captain Rohit Sharma praised the young talents Harshit Rana and Nitish Kumar Reddy, highlighting their significant potential.
Both Harshit and Nitish made their international debuts during the Perth Test, where they delivered remarkable performances for the Indian team against Australia.
All-rounder Nitish Reddy contributed 79 runs across both innings in the Perth Test, emerging as India's leading scorer in the first innings. The 21-year-old also claimed one wicket in the fourth innings of the match.
Conversely, Harshit Rana made a notable impact during the same Test, taking three wickets in the first innings and one in the fourth.
During the pre-match press conference, Rohit Sharma expressed that it was "impressive" to witness the performances of both Harshit and Nitish. He noted their positive body language throughout the previous match in the series.
Rohit expressed his hope that both Nitish and Harshit would continue to deliver strong performances for Team India in the future.
Rohit expressed his admiration for the players, stating, "It was truly remarkable to observe their performance. I had only heard about them previously and had seen some of their matches in the IPL, particularly Nitish in T20 formats, before they arrived here. They undoubtedly have significant talent, and during the first Test match in Perth, it was hard to believe it was their debut."
"From the very beginning, they were fully engaged and eager to compete. Both players exhibited excellent body language, which is essential for a squad aiming for success in major series. This marks an impressive start to their careers. I sincerely hope they continue to contribute to the team and deliver outstanding performances," he continued.
India currently leads the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series 1-0 after a record-breaking 295-run victory in Perth. The second Test is set to take place in a day-night format in Adelaide, starting on Friday.
