Largest Graffiti Mural Launched In Musandam

Khasab: A gigantic artistic mural—the largest of its type in Oman and one of the most notable in the Gulf region—was unveiled in the Musandam Governorate.

Located at the governorate's entrance, the modern graffiti-style artwork reflects the region's spirit and distinct maritime character, combining art with the local environment.

The event was conducted under the patronage of Sayyid Ibrahim Said Al Busaidi, the Musandam Governor.

The mural, designed by Omani artist Abdulaziz Al Sheihi, is 70 meters long and 14 meters high. Its execution took 40 consecutive days, with an average of three hours of work each day, and used over 500 cans of paint. The artwork beautifully portrays scenes of ocean life for which Musandam is famous, such as pearl diving, dolphins, coral reefs, and a variety of other maritime activities, making the area an artistic and tourist hotspot that attracts both visitors and residents.

Sayyid Ibrahim expressed pride in the artistic creation, which highlights the beauty of Musandam's marine environment and contributes to the governorate's visual identity. We support efforts that use art to promote tourism and give Musandam residents opportunities to invent and excel.

The Musandam Governorate has also announced intentions to hold a graffiti festival during the upcoming Musandam Winter events, which will include a mix of local and worldwide artists. The festival's goal is to convert numerous public areas into open-air art galleries that share cultural and aesthetic themes inspired by the governorate's natural beauty and heritage.

This creative drive coincides with Musandam's preparations to host the Musandam International Diving Festival next September, as part of a larger strategy to increase the region's artistic and tourist value while maintaining a balance between environmental preservation and showcasing nature as a source of inspiration and creativity.
