Nizwa: The Heritage and Tourism Department, along with the SMEs Development Authority in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate and Al Saqri Integrated Projects Co., will host the Rabie Al Jabal (Jabal Spring) event this Thursday, coinciding with the rose picking season in Jabal Akhdar.
This event is designed to enhance tourism activities and support the local community. It aims to provide visitors with a distinctive experience while highlighting the significance of the Omani rose and its related traditional industries.
The event's agenda features guided tours of the company and rose farms located in Saiq, Al Ain, Al Shareejah, and Al Aqar. Participants will learn about the various stages of rose cultivation, the rose picking process, and traditional distillation methods, all while celebrating the cultural heritage of the Wilayat of Jabal Akhdar.
Additionally, the event will showcase a tent dedicated to “entrepreneurs and artists,” heritage souqs, a pavilion for honey and Omani coffee, as well as handicrafts, complemented by activities for children.
The rose picking season in the Wilayat of Jabal Akhdar commenced at the start of this month and is one of the major annual events that draws visitors and tourists from both within Oman and abroad.
Sheikh Sulaiman Abdullah Al Kalbani, Deputy Wali of Jabal Akhdar, emphasized the importance of this event as part of ongoing efforts by Al Dakhiliyah Governorate to promote tourism, agriculture, and entrepreneurship.
He noted that the event serves as a valuable platform for showcasing the products of local artisans and farmers.
