International Workshop In Muscat To Discuss Adaptation To Climate Change In Oman

Muscat: An international seminar titled Adapting to Climate Change today addressed methods for improving the Sultanate of Oman's ability to cope with the effects of climate change.

The three-day workshop in Muscat will develop a National Adaptation Plan. It will concentrate on the "adaptation component" mentioned in the third report codenamed "Nationally Determined Contributions" or (NDC3). It will also address relevant national policies and plans. The NDCs detail how each country plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to the effects of climate change as part of its commitment to contribute to the global effort to limit warming.

The workshop, organized by the Environment Authority in collaboration with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and attended by delegates from government agencies and international organizations, reflects the Sultanate of Oman's pledges made under the Paris Climate Agreement.

The workshop aims to help Oman adapt to climate change in a systematic manner, ensuring the safety of populations and important economic sectors while also promoting sustainable development in the face of quick climate change scenarios.
