Muscat – The Indo Gulf and Middle East Chamber of Commerce (INMECC) Oman Chapter, under the auspices of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), hosted a farewell reception for His Excellency Amit Narang, the Ambassador of India to the Sultanate of Oman, at the Hormuz Grand Hotel in Muscat. The event was attended by the president and members of INMECC, OCCI board members, committee heads, and other distinguished guests, all gathered to acknowledge the Ambassador’s vital role in strengthening the bilateral relationship between India and Oman.
In his welcoming remarks, CA Davis Kallukaran, Deputy Chairman of the Foreign Investment Committee of OCCI and Founder Director of INMECC, stated, “Words cannot fully capture the dedication with which His Excellency Ambassador Amit Narang worked to ensure the formal recognition of the INMECC Chapter in Muscat. This was achieved through a joint communication issued by the Ministers of Commerce and Industry from both Oman and India in 2023, following a meeting between His Excellency Qais Al Yousuf, Oman’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, and His Excellency Piyush Goyal from India.”
“This significant documentation has enabled INMECC to enter into a memorandum of understanding with OCCI, thereby officially establishing the Oman Chapter of INMECC,” Mr. Davis continued.
During the event, Mr. Mohiuddin Mohammed Ali, President of INMECC Oman Chapter, highlighted Ambassador Narang’s contributions to enhancing India-Oman relations throughout his tenure. He expressed his personal gratitude to Ambassador Narang for selecting him as one of the eight non-residents to address the Pravasi Bhartiya Divas celebration in Bhubaneshwar, India, earlier this year.
Ambassador Narang, in his address to the attendees, underscored the robust progress in India–Oman relations and expressed hope for new initiatives, particularly a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). He praised organizations like INMECC for their pivotal role in enhancing trade, investment, and cultural ties within the region.
Dr. Abdullah Al Harthy, a Board Member of OCCI and Chairman of the Energy and Mining sector, stressed the significance of OCCI’s partnership with entities such as INMECC in promoting economic growth. He pointed to the recently held India-Oman Investor Forum as a prime example of how collaborative efforts can yield substantial benefits for both countries while facilitating knowledge exchange and trade. The event also included remarks from Mr. Kiran Asher, Group Managing Director of Al Ansari Trading Enterprise LLC.
During the ceremony, Mr. Mohiuddin Mohammed Ali presented bouquets and tokens of appreciation to the departing Ambassador on behalf of INMECC. The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Mr. K C Khanna, Secretary of the Chapter, reaffirming INMECC’s dedication to fostering ongoing growth and enhancing bilateral relations under the guidance of OCCI.
