Moscow: In a collaborative effort with Russian Post, Oman Post has revealed plans to release a commemorative postage stamp to honor the long-standing historical connections between the two amicable countries.
This initiative coincides with the ongoing official visit of His Majesty to the Russian Federation.
The goal of this endeavor is to bolster cooperation and broaden partnership opportunities in fields of shared interest.
Furthermore, Oman Post introduced a special stamp that features a unique artistic design, celebrating forty years of diplomatic relations between Oman and the Russian Federation. This stamp highlights the strong economic and cultural connections that exist between the two nations, embodying the spirit of friendship and mutual respect.
The design of the stamp is influenced by the maritime heritage both countries share, portraying two notable figures from the 15th century who played key roles in enhancing navigation and geographical understanding. These figures include the esteemed Omani navigator Ahmed bin Majid Al-Saadi, known for his groundbreaking contributions to sea exploration and geography—which encompassed the Caspian Sea and the city of Derbent—and Afanasy Nikitin, the first Russian to explore the Arabian Peninsula. Nikitin's accounts of attending Easter Mass in Muscat reflect the religious tolerance and cultural openness that Oman has historically exemplified.
This initiative highlights the dedication of both nations to improve cooperation in postal services and related sectors, fostering stronger bilateral relations and paving the way for new collaborative endeavors.
