Indian Embassy Hosts Reception To Mark Republic Day

Muscat: On January 27, 2025, the Embassy of India hosted an elaborate reception to commemorate the 76th Republic Day of India.

The event attracted over 1,000 participants, including prominent ambassadors, defence attachés, diplomats, and respected members of both the Omani and Indian communities.

Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef, the Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion of the Sultanate of Oman, attended as the Chief Guest, accompanied by a high-level official delegation from Oman.

The embassy was privileged to welcome Piyush Goyal, the Minister of Commerce and Industry of the Government of India, as the Special Guest for the evening.

Piyush Goyal is currently on an official visit to Oman to co-chair the 11th India-Oman Joint Commission Meeting alongside Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef.

During his speech, Piyush Goyal highlighted India's remarkable advancements under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, underscoring India's rising global prominence and the partnership between India and Oman as a model of successful collaboration.

In his address, Amit Narang, the Ambassador of India to the Sultanate of Oman, emphasized the significant strides made in India-Oman relations following the pandemic.

He noted the historic visit of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to India, Oman’s active role in the G20 under India's Presidency, and the swift expansion of bilateral trade, defence cooperation, cultural exchanges, and people-to-people connections.

The evening's cultural highlight was a distinctive musical presentation called ‘Sur Sandook,’ showcasing a lively fusion of Indian and Omani music. This performance brought together the talented Omani violinist Nasser Al Kindi and the Team Melam Muscat, whose dynamic Chenda Melam showcased the vibrant traditions of Kerala.

Their captivating interpretations of well-known Indian melodies enthralled the audience.

Additionally, a specially curated selfie zone featuring life-sized replicas of India’s renowned landmarks, such as the Konark Wheel and Hawa Mahal, provided attendees with a chance to capture the essence of India’s rich cultural heritage.

The 76th Republic Day celebration was a true testament to India’s cultural diversity and the lasting bond between India and Oman.
