Muscat: Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of the State of Qatar, arrived today for a two-day state visit to the Sultanate of Oman.
His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik was present to lead the welcoming delegation for Sheikh Tamim.
Upon the aircraft's arrival at the Royal Airport, His Majesty the Sultan greeted the Emir at the foot of the ramp, extending a warm welcome and wishing him and his delegation a pleasant stay in Oman.
In addition to His Majesty, Sheikh Tamim was received by HH Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs, Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court, Gen. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Nu'mani, Minister of the Royal Office, Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal Al Busaidi, Minister of Interior, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister (Head of the Mission of Honour), Sayyid Ammar bin Abdullah Al Busaidi, Ambassador of Oman to Qatar, Sheikh Mubarak bin Fahad Al Thani, Ambassador of Qatar to Oman, along with members of the mission of honour and the Qatari Embassy in Muscat.
As the Emir's aircraft entered Omani airspace, it was accompanied by a squadron of military aircraft from the Royal Air Force of Oman, symbolizing a warm welcome.
Following this, His Majesty the Sultan and Sheikh Tamim proceeded to the hall, flanked by two rows of the Royal Guard of Oman.
After a brief interlude, the motorcade of the two leaders departed the Royal Airport, en route to Al Alam Palace for the official reception.
As the motorcade of the two leaders approached Muscat Gate, a contingent from the Royal Camel Corps stood proudly along both sides of the road, extending a warm welcome to the guest. Following this, a procession from the Royal Cavalry and the RGO Cavalry escorted the official motorcade to the National Museum, accompanied by a mounted military band performing ceremonial music.
Upon reaching the courtyard leading to Al Alam Palace, a vibrant reception unfolded, featuring a variety of folklore bands that lined the pathway, singing in celebration of the guest's arrival. Subsequently, a twenty-one-gun salute was fired in honor of the guest.
As the motorcade entered the courtyard of Al Alam Palace, a welcoming melody filled the air, creating a festive atmosphere.
His Majesty the Sultan then escorted Sheikh Tamim to the Dais of Honour, where the National Anthem of the State of Qatar was played.
Following this, His Majesty the Sultan greeted members of the official delegation accompanying the Emir, wishing them a pleasant and fruitful visit. In return, Sheikh Tamim exchanged handshakes with various members of the Royal Family, chairpersons of the State Council and Shura Council, as well as ministers, advisors, and commanders of the Sultan’s Armed Forces (SAF).
The Emir of Qatar is visiting with an official delegation that includes several prominent figures. Among them are Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, who serves as the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs; Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, the President of the Qatar Olympic Committee; and Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Khulaifi, the Chief of the Amiri Diwan. Additionally, the delegation features Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, the Minister of Finance and Head of the Omani-Qatari Joint Committee; Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al Thani, the Minister of Culture; Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Minister of Sports and Youth; and Sheikh Faisal bin Thani Al Thani, the Minister of Commerce and Industry. Other notable members include Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al Khulaifi, the Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Saad bin Nasser Al Kaabi, the Director of the Department of Studies and Research at the Amiri Diwan; Mohammed Saif Al Sowaidi, the Chief Executive Officer of the Qatar Investment Authority; Sheikh Mubarak bin Fahad Al Thani, the Ambassador of Qatar to Oman; and Ambassador Abdulla bin Saif Al Mansouri, the Director of the GCC Affairs Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
