Amman: Today, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, accompanied by King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, paid a visit to the Jordan Museum in Amman as part of His Majesty the Sultan's "State Visit" to the Kingdom.
Upon the arrival of the motorcade of His Majesty the Sultan and the King of Jordan at the Jordan Museum, accompanied by Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, Crown Prince of Jordan, they were warmly received by Princess Sumaya bint Al Hussein, Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Jordan Museum.
During the visit, His Majesty the Sultan had the opportunity to explore the museum and learn about its exhibits, which date back one and a half million years. The museum showcases the rich historical legacy of Jordan, spanning from the Palaeolithic era (the Old Stone Age) to the present day.
His Majesty the Sultan was provided with detailed information about the museum's significant archaeological collections, including the renowned Ain Ghazal statues, which are considered the oldest human statues in the world. He also learned about various other valuable historical discoveries through interactive museum displays. Additionally, His Majesty took note of the models depicting human innovation and methods to address life and environmental challenges, such as water harvesting systems, agricultural techniques, and innovative building materials.
At the end of the museum visit, His Majesty the Sultan had the honor of signing the museum's VIP Register. In his entry, he expressed his delight at visiting the museum and witnessing its remarkable collection of antiquities that tell the ancient history of Jordan. His Majesty also commended the museum for its valuable data, knowledge, and educational programs aimed at preserving Jordan's heritage. Finally, he extended his gratitude to those responsible for the museum.
His Majesty the Sultan graciously received a token of appreciation from the museum's superintendents.
During his tour of the Jordan Museum, His Majesty the Sultan was joined by Prince Faisal Ibn Al Hussein (Head of the Mission of Honour) and other members of the official delegation.
