Kanpur: In a commendable display, Mominul Haque's exceptional performance in the 13th Test match against India in Kanpur played a pivotal role in Bangladesh's resurgence, helping them overcome early dismissals and secure a commendable position at the end of the first session on the fourth day of the second Test.

By the conclusion of the initial session, Bangladesh found themselves at 205/6, with Haque contributing a standout score of 102, while Mehidy Hasan Miraz added 6 runs.

The match resumed after a two-day break, with Bangladesh at 107/3, with Haque contributing a significant 40 runs, with Miraz adding 6 more.

India's Jasprit Bumrah made an early impact, dismissing Miraz for 11 runs, leaving Bangladesh at 112/4.

Litton Das was next in the batting order, attempting to assert dominance by scoring three boundaries in the 43rd over.

Mominul Haque achieved his half-century in 110 balls, with an impressive tally of nine fours.

The promising partnership between Das and Haque was abruptly interrupted when Das was dismissed for 13 runs, following a remarkable one-handed catch by skipper Rohit Sharma at mid-off, reducing Bangladesh's score to 148/5.

Despite the setback, Haque remained undeterred, continuing to attack the bowlers with vigor. However, Shakib Al Hasan was out to Ravichandran Ashwin for a six, caught by Mohammed Siraj in a one-handed catch at mid-off, leaving Bangladesh at 170/6.

Haque's resilience was evident as he continued to play with distinction against Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, eventually achieving his 13th Test century in 172 balls, with 16 fours and a six.

The first session concluded on a high note, with Haque and Miraz both unbeaten.

The second day of the match was abandoned due to inclement weather, followed by the third day being fully abandoned due to unfavorable conditions on the outfield.

The first day of action was also marred by rain, with Bangladesh managing only 35 overs, scoring 107/3, with Haque contributing a significant 40 runs, with Miraz adding 6 more.

Pacer Akash Deep initiated the match on a promising note, dismissing Zakir Hasan for 0 and Shadman Islam for 24 runs in just 36 balls, with four boundaries.

After a 51-run partnership between skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto and Haque, Shanto was dismissed by Ravichandran Ashwin for 31 runs in 57 balls, with six fours.

India won the toss and chose to bat first.
